Reviews
"Joyful and energy-filled illustrations portray different people and objects that are part of the holiday.

For each item, readers must find the required number within the illustration. Some are easier than others, but all will have children looking and taking in the myriad details to be found in each double-page spread."-- "Kirkus Reviews" (8/18/2020 12:00:00 AM)
"The bright colors and detailed illustration engages them especially when they have to search for these objects in the busy pages. I'm so impressed with the pictures, they're so vibrant and full of life, it makes you want to take part and experience the actual celebration."--Rhea Mendezona (8/5/2020 12:00:00 AM)

"Day of the Dead: A Count & Find Primer by Greg Paprocki is a brightly colored look at Día de Muertos festivities with some added educational content to boot.

Each double-page spread in this striking book contains a beautiful scene where people prepare for and celebrate this important holiday.

A page at the end explains the significance of each item in clear and easy to understand language. As someone who has never celebrated this holiday, I found this simple guide very helpful in understanding more about Día de Muertos.

Day of the Dead: A Count & Find Primer reflects that Día de Muertos is truly a celebration, using bright colors and smiling characters throughout, not the typical somber colors associated with death and mourning. This is a great book not only to introduce basic counting, but also cultural practices that may be different from your own."

"My whole family loves it, most importantly including my 4.5 year old. Beautiful bright, detailed illustrations mean that there are many more things to seek and find. I like how the Day of the Dead concepts are shown in the context of a town and families celebrating together. I got a feeling for what it is like to be somewhere where this is widely celebrated. This book is a delight."--JanesList "LibraryThing Early Reviews" (12/22/2020 12:00:00 AM)
"Our 10 month old infant was mesmerized by the colors and my older girls enjoyed practicing their Spanish whilst reading it."--mandayoga "LibraryThing" (4/10/2021 12:00:00 AM)
