Frederick Scrivener (1813-1891) was one of the great textual critics of the nineteenth century. A contemporary of Westcott and Hort, Scrivener differed from them in his preference for the Majority text. He played a key role in the formation of the English Revised Version. Scrivener is also known as one of the great publishers of ancient manuscripts.
