Start the Adventure in Reading (STAIR) is committed to improving the reading skills of elementary school children in the greater New Orleans area.  STAIR’s program incorporates diverse characters and concepts while building a foundation for reading. Using carefully selected and curated books, trained volunteer tutors provide individualized attention and guide our students using our educator-approved and proven literacy program. STAIR has taught thousands of children across the Greater New Orleans region how to read. We have been helping to improve the lives of public school children and their families for more than 38 years. 

Our one-on-one impact is driven by the relationships we cultivate, our values, and our advocacy for inclusive literacy and service initiatives for all children. STAIR students learn to read confidently, a lifetime skill that will carry them toward a brighter and more fulfilling future.
