The Common Good

Special things can happen when people have space to congregate together around good books, art, and ideas — and occasional beverages

Nestled in the foothills of the Shawangunk mountains and the southern Catskills, the Common Good strives to be an inspiring and welcoming community hub where visitors can not only find a wide array of books, but enjoy craft cocktails, coffee, unique gifts, and space to congregate, collaborate, connect and unwind. 

With books, magazines, coffee or cocktails in hand — whether at a book club meet-up, author talk, trivia night, open mic, adult history class, music performance, or just sitting at the bar in conversation — we believe we can bring out the best in us, by bringing all of us, together; that we can work to enhance the common good, and strive to build something new, or perhaps just help reconstruct something worthwhile from the venerable, decent, old traditions we’ve inherited.
