After earning a BA in Psychology from Unversity of California, Los Angeles, an MA in Child Development from California State University Sacramento, and a PhD in Education from University of California Davis, JaNay still loves storytelling! Her first book, Imani's Moon, was a NAESP Children's Book of the Year and a Reading Is Fundamental Multicultural Book Pick. She lives with her family in California.

Priscilla Burris is the illustrator and author-illustrator of many books for children. She attributes her love of children's books and library visits to the East Los Angeles Library. Priscilla loves her role of creating characters and stories for readers everywhere. She lives in sunny Arizona, where she finds the sunrises and sunsets awe-inspiring.
