Irene Nemirovsky est nee en 1903 a Kiev. La revolution d Octobre pousse sa famille a s exiler en France. En 1926, elle publie son premier roman, Le Malentendu. Son deuxieme livre, David Golder, la rend celebre. D autres suivront. Mais la Seconde Guerre mondiale eclate. Le 13 juillet 1942, Irene Nemirovsky est arretee par la gendarmerie francaise, internee au camp de Pithiviers puis deportee a Auschwitz, ou elle meurt le 17 aout 1942.
