Description
April 2004. A year after Iraq's fall to Coalition forces, the country is wracked by brutal insurgency and hurtling toward the abyss of ethno-sectarian disintegration. Covert operator Connor Rourke arrives in Baghdad with a clear mission: recover a teammate (and close friend) who has been captured by jihadists. Connor, a veteran of the Afghanistan war, plunges into the strange world of the "Green Zone" where he meets a beautiful State Department analyst with whom he falls in love. As the weeks become a blur of interrogations and commando raids, and his dangerous search moves from Baghdad to the mountains of Kurdistan, he begins to question whether or not his newfound love will survive the country's blood-soaked terrain. As he races to rescue his friend, the tour awaiting him will be more violent and unexpected than even he could have imagined. Peopled with a rogues gallery of Special Forces operators, Dusk Visors offers a fast-paced and authoritative account of an elite and shadowy brand of combat. Absorbing and impressively detailed, this book provides a fascinating lens on the Iraq war.
