Reviews

"Loving, but unsparing--a generous, grateful account of discovering ballet as a career; it's about the discovery of friends, sexuality, values. Every word and every sentence matter, taking the reader, enchantingly, between charm, pain, and humour." --Alastair Macaulay, New York Times Chief Dance Critic, 2007-2018

"I closed Illusions of Camelot with complete satisfaction. From Bedford to the New York City Ballet, Boal takes us on the journey of his young life, offering laughter, love and reflection along the way. A remarkable memoir indeed." --Maria Semple, NY Times best-selling author of Where'd You Go, Bernadette

"Humor lies close to tragedy as we delve into loving relationships with his nanny and his father. Boal's storied entree into the world of ballet introduces us to standards imparted by George Balanchine and more--all told with trademark clarity and honesty." --Twyla Tharp, award-winning choreographer, director, dancer and author

"A gem of a memoir, full of emotion and vividly told with a rare eloquence and descriptive brilliance. Peter unveils secrets and scandals that marked his life with utter candor." --Terrel Lefferts, dance educator and author
