Susan Altstatt was born and raised an army brat, in six different states, Japan, and Germany before she started college. She has a BA in Theater Arts from Stanford, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, with an MA in Drama from UCLA, where she won a Samuel Goldwyn award for playwriting. Since then she has won acclaim as a painter of the California and Nevada desert. She sings every week with a Gregorian chant choir in Palo Alto, CA and lives in nearby Los Altos Hills.
