Marilyn L. Geary is an oral historian and author specializing in immigration studies. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UC Berkeley, Marilyn received a B.A. in English Literature/History and an M.A. in Education from San Francisco State University, after which she worked for the Italian Government Travel Office, ENIT-Agenzia Nazionale Turismo, in San Francisco. She conducted her first oral histories with Sicilian fishermen on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. Following a career in information technology and instructional design, Marilyn combined her love of language and history to create Circle of Life Stories, helping people write their family histories and working with communities and organizations on oral history and community memory projects. . She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the San Geronimo Valley of West Marin, where she writes, creates fiber art and travels when possible to more remote regions of the world to explore her interests in textiles and tribal cultures.
