About the Author
Mary Jane Black studied English and journalism as an undergrad, and went on to pursue a master's in English with a concentration in creative writing. She left her writing degree program to accept a job teaching high school English when she became a solo mom with a teenage daughter. She taught writing and literature in high schools for fourteen years, and is currently a literary specialist for the State of Texas. Excerpts from her memoir appeared in the July 2016 issue of Shark Reef Journal and in the August 2016 issue of American Oxford magazine. Kick Ass Harley is Black's first book.
Reviews
"She Rode a Harley is a vibrant memoir about love, loss, and second chances . . . There's warmth and immediacy in Black's story." --Foreword Reviews "Black's debut memoir chronicles her escape from an abusive husband into the arms of a man from whom she learns the joy of deep love . . . a compelling narrative . . . a powerful biker love story centered around Harley-Davidson motorcycles." --Kirkus Reviews "Mary Black recounts her big-life adventure--on Harleys, and off. If you're looking for a great true-life love story, this one is it." --Joyce Maynard, NYT best-selling author of The Best of Us "Writing with a direct and vivid honesty about her life, at times with a Hemingway-like style using short, blunt declarative sentences, Black weaves the story of love of the people in her life, the open road on a motorcycle and of life itself." --Ultimate Motorcycling "A story of triumph over abuse and learning something new." --SMS Nonfiction Book Reviews
