About the Author

Don McKay has published eight books of poetry. Among his many awards are the Governor General's Award in 1991 (for Night Fields) and in 2000 (for Another Gravity). He was shortlisted for the 2005 Griffin Poetry Prize for Camber and was the Canadian winner in 2007 for Strike/Slip. Born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Don McKay has been active as an editor, creative writing teacher, and university instructor, as well as a poet. He lives in Newfoundland.

Nancy Holmes has published three previous collections of poetry, The Adultery Poems (Ronsdale, 2002), Down to the Golden Chersonese: Victorian Lady Travellers (Sono Nis, 1991) and Valancy and the New World (Kalamalka, 1988). She was born in Edmonton, Alberta, went to high school in Toronto and university in Calgary where she received her MA in English. She has lived in the Okanagan valley of British Columbia for the past fourteen years and teaches English and Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. She is the mother of three teen and young adult sons and lives in Kelowna, BC.
