Just prior to the American Revolution a twelve year old Shawnee Indian boy and his best friend lie on the bank of the Muskingum River telling stories about The Little People and horse-headed snakes to scare their younger brothers. About the Author
Enrolled in Cherokee Nation, Sherrin Watkins has practiced law in tribal courts, served on the Loyal Shawnee Business Committee, been a judge on the Sac and Fox Supreme Court, and worked for both Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Pawnee Nation. Her childrens' picture books include White Bead Ceremony about a Shawnee girl getting a Shawnee name, and Green Snake Ceremony, recipient of the Gamma State Author's Award for Ms. Watkins and recipient of the Oklahoma Book Award for illustrator Kim Doner.
