About the Author
Growing up with horses and attending college for business and equine science gave Tami a natural passion and understanding of equine behavior. She believes that creating a foundation in the horse-human relationship is the first step in training. Working with equine cognition, natural horsemanship, and positive training methods, Tami developed specific techniques to assist humans in their journey to connect with their wild horses. As a volunteer Trainer the Wild Horse Rescue Center in Mims, Florida, Tami developed gentling techniques specific to wild horses. The Center is a Bureau of Land Management safe holding center for reassigned cases. She says, "Working with these magnificent, resilient mustangs has been the most rewarding experience of my equine career." Tami is a member of the National Mustang Association and has been fortunate to work with members of the Colorado chapter. "Through this group I have had the opportunity to observe wild horses in the Spring Creek Basin Herd Management Area, Disappointment Valley, Colorado." Working with TJ Holmes, volunteer and member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Chapter of the National Mustang Association, allowed Tami to document and observe wild horses and understand the natural behavior of family bands and their lifelong social interactions. Her education and work experience, both in public service and as a professional horse trainer, provide a well-formed resume in regard to working with the general public and equine groups.
