Description
H.H. Campbell describes the relentless self-condemnation many women toil over when it comes to making peace with life's most difficult decisions. Taara Bradshaw had everything for which a young woman in America could strive. With her parent's blessing she has departed from a well-to-do childhood home to marry the ardent and ambitious Cameron Bourne. In one swift and life-changing summer Taara's naiveté and emotional overwhelm and ill-fated actions lay waste to her previously innocent and charmed life when she succumbs to the seductive wiles of a sophisticated, older man whose self-serving actions lead to the dissolution of her marriage. Unwilling to make a mature admission of her betrayal, Taara sacrifices her life with Cameron and begins anew as the chronically depressed trophy wife of Dexter, a diplomat in the State Department. Thirty-five years later, Taara remains in the thrall of the events of that summer. One day she makes a fateful phone call to own her flawed past, unwittingly creating an opportunity for forgiveness, respect and deeper self-knowledge, while reigniting optimism, passion and a second chance at sustaining love. As Taara confronts her chilly and belittling home life with Dexter, she works through her own challenged self-worth and paralyzing remorse. "Sandcastles," Campbell's bittersweet, beautifully wrought novel of love and loss is the story of Taara's journey for redemption, self-forgiveness, personal empowerment and transformative love. Her inner journey garners insights that heal past regrets and give birth to the emotionally mature woman. "Sandcastles" is sure to capture the hearts and imaginations of women seeking a kinder perspective on their past miscalculations. Inspiring and hopeful, Sandcastles paints a compelling portrait of one woman on the path to find redemptive love while discovering herself.

H.H. Campbell's creativity and imagination spring from her life experiences as a skilled horsewoman, public speaker, photographer, national and international traveler and art collector. A key teacher in Helen's life has been her relationship with depression. With the help of health professionals, she developed an ability to be the mistress of her moods. When it came to writing this book, she felt inspired to include a positive message of hope for others who strive to overcome clinical depression. She lives in Arizona with her husband Dr. Dean Campbell. Helen volunteers for the U.S. Forest Service through the non-profit organization, Friends of the Forest. Her major and on-going contribution to the Forest Service was to initiate, structure and see to its fruition a volunteer mounted horse program for the Red Rock Ranger District.
