Retired Air Force Sergeant Robert Madden thought the war was behind him, but as he entered Tres Rios, New Mexico, a new war was just beginning. When Madden stops at Tres Rios, New Mexico on his way to California to pursue a doctorate in education, he doesn't expect to stay past lunch. A run-in with the local drug lord halts all of his plans. To escape from a corrupt police force and legal action, Madden is given a choice in punishment-state prison or a year of teaching troubled kids at the local rural school. Growing up in the oil fields, Witzel served in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator and was a volunteer in the Iranian Rescue Attempt in 1980. Selected and served as Director of the Strategic Air Command Airborne Command Post, Witzel retired after 22 years of service. Following the service, he served as an accountant at a national bank and was subsequently asked to return to the military as a defense contractor/consultant. Currently, Witzel is serving his 12th year as a School Board Director and YMCA Board Member.
