Idiot: Dear Kami
Holly Smith
(Author)
Description
Idiot is a powerful coming of age story about a girl who beats the odds and moves between two worlds from a drug addicted mother to a nurturing adoptive family. Idiot forces you think about the choices we're all destined to make and strikes a perfect balance between love and loss. Although Idiot was inspired by a true story, it is entirely a work of fiction. So many women could write stories of their own abuse and struggle trying to blend into young adulthood. This book transitions the reader from a young and unknowing girl to a beautiful young woman and provides a unique glimpse into the private life of Eva Langston through her diary entries. This story was written with the hope it may help others ease into and through difficult transitions. Although abuse never goes away, it is sometimes dealt with in a manner that allows survivors to move forward and blossom. This work is dedicated to all young people who haven't yet found their way.

Holly Smith spends much of her time enjoying her small hobby farm alongside her husband, Patrick. She has two amazing daughters. One is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and the other is a senior in college. Before moving from Oregon to South Carolina, she worked as a social worker, school psychologist, special education consultant, and as adjunct faculty teaching undergraduate psychology and graduate level education classes. She loves living a simple life with her family and animals and enjoys homesteading, prepping, living off of the land, and cultivating her creative side. When she is not writing, you are likely to find her scouring beaches in search of agates, riding horses, painting, or gardening. Holly considers herself a bit of an oddball and wants to one day be the old lady who makes people think, Oh crap, what's she up to now? She considers herself a color outside the lines kind of person who loves to write and create. She has won several writing contests beginning as early as elementary school.
