In these strange days, brought about by the global pandemic, many of us are doing our best to embrace the imposed silence and solitude and are happily inside reading, but writers and bookstores are struggling: Bookstores across the country have shuttered. Author tours, signings, and store appearances have been scrapped. Major literary festivals and fairs around the world have (rightly!) been canceled. But you can help! Please join Yaddo in this opportunity to support our beloved authors and local booksellers.
Yaddo was established in 1900 with retreat in mind. It was intended to be a place apart from the noise of cities, the demands of the marketplace, the potential isolation all creative workers can experience. And it has succeeded magnificently as an antidote to those pressures, a place that knows and provides what artists most need—time, space and community.
Since our founding, we have welcomed more than 7,500 artists whose books, films, paintings, music, and performances have enriched, challenged, and expanded all of our lives. You can learn more at www.yaddo.org. But for now, check out these listings from our recent guests. Join us in finding a comfortable perch, turning off the news for a bit, and disappearing into the joys of a wonderful book.
