We Cancerve & Caprichos Books
About We Cancerve:
Hospitalizations, including chemo treatments, can be long and boring so We Cancerve donates Books & Buddies to help young children pass the hours of in the hospital care.
Inspired by a Harford County, Md., librarian who happened upon We Cancerve's activities in the news in 2014. She and her family donated books with a stuffed animal that matches the main character of each book. We Cancerve Founder Grace Callwood, who completing treatment for her pediatric cancer diagnosis at the time, was in complete awe with the librarian's generosity. On that day, Books & Buddies was born.
To date, We Cancerve has donated 476 Books & Buddies sets to hospitalized children at the Balitmore Ronald McDonald House, Lifebridge Health's Hackerman-Patz House, University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Hospital, the Herman and Walter Sameulson Children's Hospital at Sinai, the Alfred I. Coplan Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic at Sinai, The Children's Hospital at Johns Hopkins and the pediatric infusion clinic at Johns Hopkins. This is made possible thanks to the generous support of Tiny Toes, Harford Day School, and Capricho Books. We are delighted to partner again with Tiny Toes and Capricho Books on this campaign.
Founded in 2012, We Cancerve brings happiness to children experiencing homelessness, living in foster care or who are in active medical treatment including hospitalization.
