Thank you for visiting the Tubby & Coo's Mid-City Book Shop virtual book fair for the Words & Music Festival!
From November 17-21, this page will act as the virtual book fair for the Words & Music Festival. When you purchase books through this virtual book fair, proceeds benefit Tubby & Coo's Mid-City Book Shop AND One Book One New Orleans, who will split the profits from this book fair.
This year's One Book One New Orleans' selection is The Yellow House by Sarah Broom. Feel free to purchase a copy here and send directly to One Book One New Orleans for donation.
We are also running a book drive for One Book for The 1619 Project. Order directly from that link and books will be sent directly to One Book One New Orleans for donation.
Bring your Bookshop.org donation receipt to Tubby & Coo's and get 10% off your purchase!
A campaign for literacy and community, One Book One New Orleans calls on New Orleans residents to share the experience of reading the same book at the same time, works to provide literacy resources to adults, and emphasizes the importance of dialogue between diverse groups of people. Their partnerships with the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society, the New Orleans Public Library, and WRBH Reading Radio allow them to host quality community programming and to provide access to the selected book to those with limited budget and those with visual impairment. Through partnerships with the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans, Louisiana Books 2 Prisoners, and the Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Settings, they provide copies of the selected book and an accompanying curriculum to adult education programs throughout the Greater New Orleans area, people in prisons throughout the southeast, and teenagers in juvenile justice facilities.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP THROUGH SHOPPING!
We recommend using a PC for a better browsing experience.
1) Click on the categories below to shop the catalog, or use the search bar at the top of this page to search for any item.
2) Have your order shipped directly to your home, or if you are making a donation, enter the One Book One New Orleans address.
3) Or, choose to have your order gift wrapped and mailed directly to your gift recipient. You can even add a custom message!
4) Share this great shopping opportunity with your family and friends! Every purchase means so much.
NOTE: You may see that many titles are on backorder. This is because the book industry supply chain has been severely disrupted by COVID-19. Books are taking much longer than usual to print, get through the warehouse process, and ship. We recommend backordering books now so that you receive them when they are next printed.
Get more lists and recommendations on our main store Bookshop page.
Thank you so much for all of your support.
More About Tubby & Coo's
Tubby & Coo’s is a local queer-owned, progressive, nerdy, independent book shop in Mid-City New Orleans focused on science fiction and fantasy, queer, and diverse books. The shop is named after the owner’s grandparents, Tubby & Coo, who grew up in the same neighborhood where the shop is located.
We’re a community center for nerds, geeks, and anyone who doesn't feel supported elsewhere. We believe in creating change through building community, promoting literacy, and demanding social justice. We also ensure our community has access to stories that reflect diverse experiences. We envision a future where everyone is empowered, able, and encouraged to tell their own stories, regardless of social class, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, race, age, or culture. Every voice deserves to be heard, and we work to build a world where all voices are equally important.
