Walden Pond Books

A family-owned independent bookstore selling new, used, and rare books, Walden Pond Books has served the San Francisco Bay Area reading public from its Grand Avenue store in Oakland, California since 1973.

Choose from our carefully curated and regularly updated lists of outstanding books or use the search field at the top of Bookshop pages to find the book you're looking for.  Orders are filled by Bookshop from multiple vendors, so even if we don't have that title in our Oakland store inventory you now have access to virtually any book in print. All online sales benefit Walden Pond Books just as if you were shopping in our Oakland store.

Please note that Bookshop orders are for shipment to your home only.  If you'd like to place an order for a pickup at the store, please call us at 510-832-4438 between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm any day of the week.
