Ujamaa Community Bookstore
We are Flanner House's Black-owned community bookstore located in the Near Northwest neighborhood of Indianapolis, celebrating authors, artists, and activists. Named after one of the seven Kwanzaa principles, Ujamaa (meaning "cooperative economics"), we value sharing space, knowledge, and resources. We believe in solidarity and abolition, the hopeful idea that a better world is possible and we can create it together.
You can shop online here or visit our in-store location at 2424 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street, Indianapolis, IN. We have free programming for children, teens, and families Monday - Friday as well as book clubs and community events. Open daily.
