Rubber Rose Books & Print

One of the jewels of downtown Kankakee, Rubber Rose Books & Print is an independent bookstore, offering a wide selection of gently used books, a curated selection of new books, locally handmade gifts, and printing services. We are the only independent bookstore in Kankakee County and we are woman and queer owned.

Our motto is “Affordability, Inclusivity, and Accessibility”, because everyone deserves access to affordable (if not free) books and education.  We have books outside our storefront that are completely free and accessible 24/7. Representation matters, which is why the new books that we offer are chosen with diversity and inclusion in mind, focusing on books written by BIPOC, Queer, neurodivergent & Disabled authors. We strive to uplift and celebrate these marginalized populations.

We take pride in being a part of the small business community in Kankakee and are committed to nurturing our own unique group of literate, open-hearted patrons. Every nook of our shop is filled with hidden gems, so whether you’re a local or a tourist, you’ll always find something special.
