                                      Hello January 2025.  Time is flying by--that's why it is important to make the best of our time here 

                                            on earth.   Making time for reading is essential for our wellness.  

                                             Studies have shown reading is a way to improve your memory and cognitive functioning.  

                                       It also exercises your brain by increasing vocabulary, and by learning new things about the world 

                                             and about you as well.   So here's to reading in January 2025.   

                                      Although, there is a lot to celebrate in January, we are recognizing these noteworthy dates:

                                    We are so grateful to you, our supporters, our friends and family who continue to support

                                                     Our celebration of serving you for 19 years is still going strong.

Who is the Olive Tree Books-n-Voices bookstore?  We are located at 97 Hancock Street in Springfield, Massachusetts.  The building that houses the bookstore is as significant in the message that it conveys.  The owner, Zee Johnson and staff are committed to their love of books.

Although you would never know it now, the bookstore is located on the first floor of a building that used to be a crack house. With the hard work of many people who wanted Olive Tree Books-n-Voices to succeed, the former crack house transformed into an inviting homey place in 2004.  It is now a comfortable place where you can come in and browse through the more than 700 titles.  You can make a selection from the Inspirational & Religious room, browse in the historical section, view our new wellness section or have a cup of coffee or tea while using Wi-Fi, curl up on the sofa with a best seller, read to your unborn child in our Mother’s rocking chair, or have your children read stories in the Young Readers room.

In addition, there are also cards, Bibles, journals, magnets, handbags, one of a kind floral arrangements, gift baskets, and specialty/unique items to select from.   

Our newest product and service is audiobooks.  Never leave home without a book.  Audiobooks can be purchased through Libro.fm  within our online system as well.  

Many have asked about the name, Olive Tree Books-n-Voices. Besides books, the bookstore wanted to emphasize the connection to other forms of expression:  art, music, etc.; hence, Olive Tree Books-n-Voices.

It is obvious that when people come in, there is a special interest in customers, calling them by name and chatting with them about their special literary interests. There is something to be said about “someone knowing you and your name.”  However, if the store doesn’t have a particular book or item, it can be ordered.   We also offer Curbside Service.
