We’ve picked a book to complement each show in our season. We’ve got novels, short stories, essays, poetry, memoir, and graphic novels — mostly (but not always) published in the last couple of years. Before opening night of each show, we usually meet in the lobby for happy hour drinks and discussion. It’s an fun, informal way to find a new favorite book, meet people, and get your brain into gear for the show – even if you haven’t had a chance to read the book yet.
While we can’t gather in the theater, we’re taking select book clubs online. Visit our Book Club page for information about how to join upcoming Virtual Book Club events.
Whether or not you can join us for a book club meeting — in person or online — we hope our picks inspire you to discover books in the adventurous spirit of our on-stage programming.
ABOUT NYU SKIRBALL
NYU Skirball holds close James Baldwin’s dictum that “artists are here to disturb the peace.” We invite adventurous, unorthodox productions and pioneering artists, scholars, and game-changers to our stage to offer audiences uncommon offerings that can, and often do, reshape and expand worldviews. Our mission is to present work that inspires yet frustrates, confirms yet confounds, entertains yet upends. We proudly embrace renegade artists, academics, and thought-leaders who are courageous, outrageous, and mind-blowing. We are NYU’s largest classroom. We want to feed your head. Because if we don’t, who will?
