I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Niña and I’m an Early Childhood Expert and Parent Coach, specializing in the Toddler Years. I am on a curiosity voyage to find as many books as possible that will help parents create an Antiracist/Anti-bias bookshelf at home. Part of my work involves studying books and materials to share with families. With so many books out there, I consider 3 things when deciding what to recommend.
1. Inclusive language
2. Context (For example, if a book is speaking about differences, it must also include elements of fairness, equity, and empowerment)
3. Developmentally appropriate
I also wonder out loud with children at the end of books. I say, Who is telling this story? Whose story is not being told? And What more can I learn about this?
Here are some of my favorite books. I will be updating this list, so keep checking back!
