Missing Witches
Missing Witches is co-created by Amy and Risa: Witches, artists, activists, and perpetual students living out in the woods on unceded Anishinaabe territory, in Quebec, Canada.
Missing Witches is an excuse for us to do the research we were longing to do, into the ideas and people we felt were missing from our lives.
Missing Witches began as a podcast, and it came from a desire to research true histories – and interview real practitioners – of Witchcraft and other occulted practices. We wanted to learn from artists, poets, academics, and activists who are conjuring better possible worlds. We’re dedicated to creating an intersectional, feminist history of ideas; sharing marginalized ideas about what’s POSSIBLE; and helping to build communities of care with other magical beings.
That podcast birthed two books so far, Missing Witches: Reclaiming True Histories of Feminist Magic and New Moon Magic: 13 Anti-Capitalist Tools for Resistance and Re-enchantment (Sept 2023) and continues to be able to take new shapes thanks to the contributions – material and philosophical – of our community.
In a spirit of reparations, we donate our May earnings to the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal each year, and organize an annual fundraiser and conversation with indigenous thinkers to help unpack some of the appropriation and spiritual bypassing that happens in Witch worlds. Check out the 2021 fundraiser + episode here, and the 2022 fundraiser + episode here, and contact us to get involved.
