Midtown Reader
Our owner, Sally Bradshaw, always dreamed of working in a bookstore. Years later, that dream came true when Midtown Reader opened in November of 2016 as Tallahassee's only New York Times reporting, general-subject, independent bookstore, selling new books. Midtown Reader is located in the capital city of Florida, home to two major universities and a diverse community of readers. We emphasize lifelong learning and hope to put just the right book into your hands. From literary fiction, mysteries, poetry, and science fiction to young adult books, biographies, and cookbooks, we carry a selection of new and noteworthy books. We showcase Florida authors and books about Florida's political, social, and natural history. We also build a loyal community through regular programming with author events, Kidtown Reader story hour, Read to Lead panels, book clubs, workshops, community readings, and more. Midtown Reader is also home to the Piebrary, our in-house cafe serving pie, coffee, and tea. We are dedicated to serving as a meeting ground for readers of all backgrounds to read, think, and share together.
