Kindred Psychology
We believe in education and personal empowerment.
Knowledge and information are necessary to help develop self-awareness and skills. However, when it comes to sensitive topics like mental health, identity development, and sexuality, it can be challenging to know what resources are credible. To help, we have compiled some of our favorite books for specific practice areas. We share many of these resources with clients in therapy when appropriate.
You’ll also find content relating to social justice topics, as broad cultural changes are necessary to improve everyone’s mental health and well-being. We offer these resource suggestions to provide you with useful tools to discover a deeper understanding of yourself and how you might effect change in the world.
Please note that these resources are not intended to replace consultation with a clinician, nor does reading them constitute a therapeutic relationship with Kindred Psychology. We offer links to these resources for convenience, personal empowerment, and educational purposes.
All Kindred Psychology Bookshop proceeds are directed toward scholarship opportunities for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community members experiencing economic obstacles to securing the mental health and support services they need.
