Join Bel Canto Books and Linc Housing to create a children's books library at Spark at Midtown, an affordable housing community in Long Beach, California. Our goal is to increase children's access to diverse, age-appropriate books and help close the opportunity gap for low-income families. 

A 2020 Library Journal article paints a serious literacy problem in the US:

• 21% of adults (about 43 million) fall into the illiterate/functionally illiterate category
• 68% of fourth graders read at a below proficient level, and of those, 82% are from low-income homes
• 61% of low-income families have no children’s books in their homes
