House of SpeakEasy
Scroll down for over a dozen curated lists. By shopping with us, you provide crucial support for our nonprofit mission. A portion of proceeds from all books you purchase go toward our initiatives for writers, students, educators, and communities who are without access to traditional literary programs. On stage. In schools. And on the road with The SpeakEasy Bookmobile.
Founded in 2013 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, House of SpeakEasy is dedicated to the idea that literature matters, and that the essence of literary culture is the relationship between writers and their readers. SpeakEasy believes that book ownership should be a right, not a privilege.
SpeakEasy’s flagship program is an acclaimed series of literary cabarets, "Seriously Entertaining." Each month, authors take the stage to riff and ruminate informally, dinner-theater-style, on the evening’s theme. The Wall Street Journal calls it "Think-y entertainment for New York’s book-loving crowd." Check out The SpeakEasy Podcast for more ways to get our signature style of storytelling, and sign up for our newsletter to get details about upcoming shows via livestream.
