Welcome to City Books.
We are a small, friendly shop with an emphasis on both old-world charm & modern customer service located in the heart of the Old Allegheny Historic District. We are conveniently located within walking distance of Pittsburgh’s premier destinations, including The Andy Warhol Museum, Mattress Factory, National Aviary, Carnegie Science Center, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Stage AE, PNC Park, Heinz Field, and Rivers Casino.
Although our Pittsburgh location is exclusively a USED bookstore, you can buy NEW books from us here on our Bookshop storefront. This hybrid way of selling has allowed City Books to grow its reach beyond western Pennsylvania and withstand multiple shutdowns over the last two years.
Below, you will find “shelves” grouped by subject matter, genre, and author. We are continually adding new books & new shelves, so check back often. If you have an idea for a list that you don’t see, let us know. Similarly, we love to curate custom shelves for our followers/customers based on their interests, reading history, mood, age, etc. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see two real custom lists. This is a free service: request one for yourself, your mom, or a friend.
Books available on this site via our Bookshop digital storefront are for HOME DELIVERY anywhere in the US. However, if you email the shop directly with your titles, you can arrange pick up in Pittsburgh at our brick & mortar location in order to save shipping costs.
