Book Beat

Book Beat is an open bookshop in the Detroit metro area since 1982. We are located at 26010 Greenfield in Oak Park, Michigan. Our motto is: read•think•create.  Book  Beat is a creative sanctuary for readers, thinkers, artists, and educators.  We stock a wide variety of quality literature in many subjects including children’s books, fiction, current events, Black studies, Detroit history, art books, music,  folk art, greeting cards, posters, original photographs, tarot cards, rare books, and creative and whimsical gifts for all ages. 
 

We are open for browsing:   Mon.-Sat. 10 am- 6 pm and Sunday: 12-5 pm. We can be reached at (248) 968-1190  or by email at [email protected]. Book Beat hosts two reading groups. Our World Lit group meets online via Zoom and in store, the last Wednesday of the month, and reads classics and experimental writing in translation.  The Sub Rosa group features Feminist writing and meets in person at the store On the last Saturday of the month.
