Alia Luria, still not a robot
My name is Alia, and I am an author of novels and memoirs, an avid reader, an attorney, and a sometimes artist. As part of my process, I try to read 100 books a year. That's a random number I stole from Stephen King, but it seems to be a good goal, and I have worked my way up to it over the last decade. This page is where I tell you what those books were, broken up by year. Please note that unless a book appears under Alia's Favorite Books, I may not have actually enjoyed the book. Also, please consider that my listed favorites are non-exhaustive. Part of understanding myself as a writer is exposure to a wide range of reading material. I just need to be better about getting in my non-fiction! If you want to know my thoughts on some of these and other books, check out the Close Readings section of Still Not a Robot. I will be adding books I've already read to these list as soon as I think of them, and anything before like a decade ago I will just lump together in one big archive. I can tell you for certain that I have read every book on these lists, even the smutty ones, campy ones, and ones that I ended up hating. Also, not every book I read in any given year is on these lists. If I can't find it on the Bookshop.org site, I obviously can't add it here. I hope that you find this peek into my weirdo brain helpful!
