PlayfulLeigh Psyched
PlayfulLeigh Psyched provides psychotherapy, training, and consultation to caregivers, teachers, and clinicians with a focus on racialized children such as those in the Black community. We are a Black-owned and woman-led organization. Our practice was started in 2018 designed to support young children, families, and adults alike to navigate discriminatory and social-emotional experiences that negatively impact our lives. Understanding that racial trauma has long been an underacknowledged injustice, we aim to extinguish the development of racist ideas and practices for the empowerment and safety of young children. We are social justice oriented, while seeing the world through a trauma-informed lens.
At our presentations, trainings, and workshops, attendees frequently request book recommendations to continue their learning. Therefore, we have pulled together a list of PlayfulLeigh's Reads to further your exploration on topics related to racial equity and justice, the impact of childhood trauma, and childhood development.
