About the Author
Richard H. Pfau earned a Ph.D. in science education and a B.A. with honors in psychology. He has served as a lecturer, professor, and consultant in International Management and International Education, spending several years in Africa and Asia. Dissatisfied with psychology's lack of appreciation of insights from the hard sciences, he spent many years in work and research aimed at understanding behavior around the world and developing a more up-to-date, scientific explanation of human behavior than that which dominates psychology today.

...a brilliantly organized trove of knowledge that will leave readers with a better understanding of what makes us tick.... by reading this book you will understand your behavior and be able to use this knowledge to change said behavior. It's a pretty lofty goal, but Your Behavior achieves it brilliantly... Other books claim they'll change your life; Your Behavior gives you the tools to change it yourself. RECOMMENDED by the US Review.

--Yuliiya Geikhman, US Review of Books (05/17/2017)

Pfau's objective is clear from the start. Rather than seeking to persuade, he seeks to educate.... Pfau consistently and subtlety reminds us that science and scholarship are part of a learning process and that it is important not to make judgments about the work of others without offering thoughtful and measured alternatives. In the case of PCT, the whole is, indeed, greater than the parts. The parts are, as it were, a composite of all the efforts, scientific, scholarly and experimental over time that have contributed to our current understanding, evaluation and acceptance of such a big theory as is Perceptual Control Theory.

--Fred Goode, Distance Consulting (05/17/2017)

While Pfau's book offers a remarkably helpful guide to understanding and changing one's behavior, it equally serves as a valuable guide for learning about Perceptual Control Theory (PCT). The basic thesis of PCT and its various corollaries inform the book's first eight chapters which describe and discuss the human living organism, its operations (i.e. behavior), and the environment in which it exists to survive.

--Lloyd Klinedinst, Distance Consulting (05/17/2017)
"A comprehensive study of human behavior in an eminently readable format. ... An elegantly constructed and organized scientific exploration and self-help work."--Kirkus Reviews
"An insightful, well-researched, and empowering perspective on behavior, Your Behavior demonstrates just how much our perceptions affect our behavior, and how through changing them we can dramatically improve our lives."--Claire Nana, PsychCentral

"The book assiduously gives the reader a through overview of the body's mental and sensory processes and some of the current theories used to describe and understand human behavior.... Thoroughly researched, accessibly written, and insightful, Your Behavior will help you understand where your own, as well as others' behavior, comes from."

--Danielle McManus, San Francisco Book Review (4.5 out of 5 stars)
