Reviews

"Deliberately understated, with delectable results... Skillful characterizations; though they're simply drawn and have little to say, each animal emerges fully realized. " (English edition) ---Publishers Weekly (starred review)
"Four pages into this charmer, every kindergartner will know where the bear's missing hat is -- but they'll never predict the hilarious revenge he takes on the thief." (English edition) ---People Magazine
"I Want My Hat Back is a marvelous book in the true dictionary sense of marvel: it is a wonderful and astonishing thing, the kind of book that makes child laugh and adult chuckle, and both smile in appreciation."(English edition) --The New York Times
We love this book in English and have been waiting for a Spanish edition! This is a really great book for emerging bilinguals who are beginning to learn Spanish, because of the repetition and short text. The plot is very simple, but still manages to be hilarious. We laugh out loud reading this book! Definitely recommend!--NetGalley-Reviewer
The illustrations are gorgeous as always and the unintended humor I enjoy out of this book is as great as the first time when I read it in English. This makes for an excellent gift for Spanish-speaking children or friends just learning Spanish.--Netgalley-Educator
This is the best kid's picture book of the century in my opinion. The bear and other animals are charming, the story teaches persistence, memory, and personal responsibility, there are deep ethical questions, and the implied murder and danger are good reminders to kids that the world is not always neat a nd kind.---NetGalley-Educator
31 Days 31 Lists. Bilingual Children's Books. Honestly, I'm a little ashamed that it never occurred to me before to check and see if this was in Spanish. Apparently this is the first time it's been translated! Better news still, all the "hat" books will be translated. If not now then soon. How's that for a picker-upper?---A Fuse #8 Production (An SLJ Blog)
