Reviews

At Standing Rock Mary Lyons shared her knowledge and lifted people's spirits. Grandma Mary is a big-hearted and generous teacher, who won't always tell you what you want to hear. But it's usually the advice and counsel you need to hear.
-- Journalist and filmmaker Leana Hosea

Grandmother Mary Lyons is a true Wisdom Keeper. Each chapter of this wonderful book is a gift! Grandmother Mary's loving presence in our lives is an example of her truth as she lives and breathes the breaths of her ancestors. In each moment you spend with her you know you are in the presence of an elder who has walked the path of life true to the sacred teachings of Mother Earth.
-- Patricia Morris Cardona, APRN, BC, and Daniel J. Cardona, MD, co-founders of The Cosmic Mysteries School

When I first met Grandmother Mary at the Omega Institute in the fall of 2016 I was truly touched by her wisdom, her beautiful sense of humor and her incredible spirit. I have also had the pleasure of hosting her and two other grandmothers in Chicago, where she continued to inspire others with her stories and through her love.
-- Tony Hollenback, LCSW, Director of Family Services, Niles, Illinois

I knew of Great Grandma Lyons long before I met her. I was in awe of her aura of deep spiritual calling and her natural leadership. Mary Lyons is a reminder that our spirit lies within our character and that is the strength of our Indigenous culture.
-- Mary Kunesh-Podein, Minnesota State Representative

It has become part of my Spiritual Practice to read one of Great Grandmother Mary Lyons' Wisdom Lessons online in the morning and then lean into to each lesson as I move through my day. What a gift to have all of these wise words and more compiled into one book. This is a book that will empower generations. We need to listen NOW to the voices of our Elders while we still have them with us. Mary Lyon's voice needs to be heard in this pivotal time of upheaval and change.
-- Holley Rauen, RN Midwife, Co-founder, Pachamama Alliance of SW Florida

It is a great pleasure and privilege to provide some words of aroha (love) and manaaki (support) for Great Grandmother Mary Lyons. I have come to know her love for Indigenous people over the years, through her connection with us here in Aotearoa/New Zealand. We treasure Mary's words of wisdom, and are in awe of her brave stand in the face of adversity, as well as her tireless fight for the freedom of Indigenous people all over the world. Nga mihi aroha Mary.
-- Ngaroimata Reid, President, Te Atatu Branch, Te Ropu Wahine Maori toko i te Ora (Maori Women's Welfare League), Aotearoa/New Zealand

As a Traditional Maori Wisdom Keeper, who has represented New Zealand internationally and interacted with more than 150 Nations, I have had the pleasure and honor of sharing traditional and cultural knowledge with Great-grandmother Mary Lyons at an International Conference of Religions at Salt Lake City in the USA, as well as traditional Maori gatherings in New Zealand. Both of us believe in being One with the whole of Creation, and identify with both Papatuanuku/Earth Mother, and Ranginui/Sky Father. Through the Wisdom Lessons shared by Great- grandmother Mary Lyons, people will be able to appreciate the tremendous guidance and insight of an Indigenous Great-grandmother who can speak with authority, because her knowledge comes from first-hand experience. Great-grandmother Mary Lyons stands up with great pride, through the vested authority that she has from her ancestors and the Creator.
-- Dr. Rosemarie Lambert Rangimarie Pere, CM, CBE

Grandmother Mary's words always inspire and uplift me. She makes me feel all is and will be right with the world. Thank you Grandmother Mary Lyons.
-- Sharon Ziegler
