About the Author

Yusuke Yonezu was born in Tokyo, Japan, where he still lives with his wife and children. As a child he loved to draw and make toys out of paper and boxes. He went on to study design and became the creator of many board books, puzzles, and toys beloved by children and their caregivers around the world.

Yonezu's board books are full of bold colors and help young readers master basic concepts, including counting skills, animals, foods, shapes, and more. The designs help readers of all ages see the world in a new way and discover new surprises with each turn of the page.
Reviews

"Perfect for lap-snuggling or storytime sharing, this interactive offering inspires animal, color, and shape identification as well as hugs." --Joy Fleischhacker, School Library Journal

"The vibrantly colored, stylized animals are appealing, the large white shapes on bold backgrounds command attention, and the glossy, die-cut pages encourage exploration....Babies and toddlers will appreciate this playful, upbeat introduction to shapes." --Kirkus Reviews

"With a playful "love" message for Valentine's Day, Japanese author/illustrator Yusuke Yonezu brings together bold colors and stylized illustrations to familiarize tots with basic shapes." --Washington Parent

"A smart way to introduce simple shapes, adorable animals and a Valentine's-worthy love theme, Yonezu's board book is precious." --Kids Home Library

"Yusuke Yonezu uses clever cutouts to convey--without ever stating outright--the message that loves completes us . . . ingenious pictures." --Sarah Smith, nytimes.com
