Description

In the reclusive barge community of Barren Arm, troubled army veteran Lorry Martens is simply doing her best to survive the near-apocalyptic tragedy known as the Unthinkable.

But amidst the chaos, when her best friend Neil is murdered in his sleep, she learns that he was the guardian of an ancient, hidden relic, and his death has triggered a succession ritual.

Now Lorry must guide Neil's successor to the mountain hiding place only she knows, using the dark skills she thought she'd left on the battlefield long ago.

But others have their sights on the relic as well, and the chase has begun: Lorry will journey into the shattered landscape, where death and betrayal are waiting.

Reviews

"An intelligent, propulsive chase, a must for the smart thriller reader." - Roz Nay, author of The Hunted

"Brent van Staalduinen's gritty and masterful storytelling ensnares with its visceral intensity. Through vibrant characters, he reveals poignant truths, while the suspense keeps your heart racing. Not reading this book would be 'unthinkable.' " -- H&A Christensen, authors of STEALING JOHN HANCOCK

"Unthinkable isn't just a well-paced action/thriller. It's also a tense tour of the apocalypse-in-progress; the detailed character study of a highly trained killer; and - most surprisingly - an illustration of the way grief can shock us to the core, even if we believe ourselves unshockable." - Jamie Tennant, author of River, Diverted
