About the Author

Mark Eliot Nuckols spent six years of his youth in Slovakia, where he became so carried away with the local music, he sang in several choruses. Now he performs and translates Czech and Slovak folk and popular songs on Virginia's Eastern Shore. His translation work includes volunteering for the websites Watching America and Rights in Russia, and helping people of Central European ancestry connect with their family's past. He has written for Rus- sian Life and Touchstone magazines and holds a Ph.D. in Slavic languages from The Ohio State University.

Reviews

"Well researched, beautifully written, and infused with humor, Travels with Ferdinand, and Friends, transports the reader on a journey of understanding how history remains relevant. With frequent musical interjections, Travels with Ferdinand is a worthy, wonderful, hum-along read; the best kind of travel memoir." -Martina Clark, author of My Unexpected Life: An International Memoir of Two Pandemics, HIV and COVID-19
