Inspired by many individual young people over a period of time spanning a quarter of a century Yvy Angel provides a series of vivid snapshots which serve to transport the reader directly into the lives of young people and those connected with them in a powerful and thought provoking way. Already used during training to inspire and educate foster carers, poems titled; Prison Visiting, Don't Touch Me Please, I Hate Most Social Workers and, "No" are followed by a section on overcoming challenges at school including, I Don't Wear Uniform To School, (I find it hard to follow rules) and, "I Haven't The Words", lead us toward an understanding of why this may be so. Ending with a fascinating and unique collection of poems which explain what our brains are doing behind the scenes: Upper Brain And Lower Brain, Adrenalin, Enkephalin and Seratonin may help us to make sense of strong feelings and extreme behaviours allowing us to take control of ourselves or to better enable those we care for to make their own decisions in their own best interests.
