About the Author

Katrina Monroe is a private investigator by day and a horror author by night. She has published several titles under small presses that are no longer in print. When she isn't writing, she can be found curled up under a blanket, mug of tea in hand, rewatching episodes of The Great British Bake-Off, or in the kitchen attempting (and mostly failing) to recreate those incredible bakes. She lives in Minnesota with her wife, two children, and Eddy, the ghost that haunts their bedroom closets.

More than a century of loss related by narrators from different generations, combined with a malevolent ghost, gives this gothic read plenty of appeal for horror fans, while the family drama will compel readers of women's fiction. -- Booklist

A generation-spanning ghost story brimming with chills and family drama...themes of familial bonds and generational curses, along with its overall spooky atmosphere, should keep readers hooked until the end. -- Library Journal

A slow burn ghostly story that's perfect for those who love a haunted seaside and mothers fighting for their daughters. It's romantic, heartbreaking, scary, and beautifully written. -- Horrorbound

Monroe has crafted an atmospheric debut that slips effortlessly between generations of mothers and daughters, exploring what it means to be cursed and haunted, and how far we'll go to protect the ones we love. They Drown Our Daughters is the best kind of story-- one that will both break your heart and scare the hell out of you. -- Jennifer McMahon, New York Times bestselling author of The Children on the Hill

An atmospheric, absorbing, multi-generational novel which explores the way historical events can impact the present. I'm always fully on board for anything that shines a light on the intense and difficult bonds between mothers and daughters, so this hit the mark for me! I was at turns terrified by the air of ghostly myth and compelled by the excellent prose. A brilliant achievement! -- Melanie Golding, author of The Hidden

At turns chilling, evocative, and beautifully tragic, They Drown Our Daughters is a mesmerizing tale of familial sorrow. Katrina Monroe plays this one just right, drawing you in gently before unleashing the full force of her power...just like her wraith of the water. Moreover, Monroe will have readers more afraid of the sea than any author since Benchley. A superb read. -- Carter Wilson, USA Today bestselling author of Mister Tender's Girl

They Drown Our Daughters is haunting, powerful, and unforgettable. Katrina Monroe creates a story that is captivating and horrifying in turns as it weaves through themes of generational trauma and longing with a deft touch. Don't miss this one. -- Darcy Coates, USA Today bestselling author of Gallows Hill

A haunting, intimately heartbreaking legacy of trauma and horror, soaked in seaspray and endlessly compelling. Once you hear the ocean's song, you won't be able to leave Cape Disappointment behind! -- Caitlin Starling, USA Today bestselling author of The Death of Jane Lawrence

Gorgeously written, terrifying, and yet, incredibly poignant, We Drown Our Daughters is a master lesson in atmosphere. From the salt air, to the cursed spirit's song, to the rhythmic sounds of the water, I was utterly transported to Cape Disappointment. The relationships between the generations of women was a particularly emotional highlight, with the pressures of motherhood taking center stage. Monroe handles all this with aplomb, all while the tension in the narrative never eases. It's been a long times since I've read such a complex, nail-biter of a suspense novel. -- Kate Moretti, New York Times Bestselling author of The Spires

They Drown Our Daughters is a stunner. Beautifully written, deeply creepy, and carefully plotted--but above all, a fantastic meditation on what it means to be a parent. -- Rob Hart, author of The Warehouse and The Paradox Hotel
