About the Author
Martine Bellen is the author of eight collections, including THE VULNERABILITY OF ORDER (Copper Canyon Press, 2001) and TALES OF MURASAKI AND OTHER POEMS (Sun & Moon Press, 1999), which won the National Poetry Series Award, as well as the novella 2X (SQUARED) (BlazeVOX Books, 2010). She has written the libretto for Ovidiana, an opera based on Ovid's Metamorphoses (composer, Matthew Greenbaum) and Ah! Opera No-Opera (in collaboration with David Rosenboom). Moon Lady: The Story of Chang E, (An Opera in Three Acts), in collaboration with Zhang Er, will be performed by the Zhejiang Opera in China. She has been a recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Fund for Poetry and has had a Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy. Bellen is a contributing editor of the literary journal Conjunctions.
