The Salvation of Poetry

On a cold winter day in 1947, Emily Snow's life is turned upside down when she is orphaned at the age of ten. She is taken in by a foster family and sent to Catholic school where she finds solace in the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Little does she know how much she will need this solace, as a secret trauma threatens her sanity and even her life. Relegated to the dark recesses of memory, horrific violations of body and soul impact her marriage to George, a controlling and abusive man who makes her life a living hell. Through it all, poetry becomes a healing thread on her journey from horror and heartbreak to hope, wholeness, renewed faith, and finally love. Contains scenes of sexual violence.
