About the Author

Melissa Caruso is an author of fantasy books, including three novels in the Swords and Fire series and two in the Gate of Secrets series. She was born on the summer solstice and went to school in an old mansion with a secret door, but despite this auspicious beginning has yet to develop any known superpowers. She graduated with honors in creative writing from Brown University and has an MFA degree in fiction from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Melissa's first novel, The Tethered Mage, was shortlisted for a Gemmell Morningstar award for best fantasy debut.

Senn Annis is an award-nominated professional audiobook narrator who loves performing hopeful girls and women who are discovering themselves and heroines saving the universe. Her bachelor's degree in English literature coupled with a decade of stage performance in the circus led her to a career in audiobook narration. From trapeze artist to storyteller, she brings a sense of adventure to every performance.
