About the Author
Monty Lemley was born and raised on a farm and ranch in eastern Colorado. To help his family during his high school years, Monty worked weekends and after school as a water-well driller and at other odd jobs. After high school and as a young man, he followed his passions for operating heavy equipment, truck driving, farming and ranching, and earning his pilot's license. Even with the preoccupation of making a living, he never forgot his childhood passion for writing and storytelling. Monty attended college and joined the local sheriff's office, from which he retired after thirty years and continues to serve on a part-time basis. During this time he and his family also ranched, farmed, and ran a custom haying operation. At the sheriff's office, Monty served in various capacities, including supervising the sheriff's mounted posse, where he helped train horses and their riders for over twenty-two years. He also led numerous task forces, including one in which he received Lawman of the Year from the Colorado Cattlemen's Association for work done on breaking up a calf-rustling ring. Monty has worked in patrol, investigations, and corrections. He was a supervisor for over twenty years in the sheriff's office, as well as being the director of a police academy for twenty years. In recent years, he has fulfilled another lifelong passion: visiting the Orient, specifically Thailand, numerous times.
