About the Author

A longtime Hemingway aficionado, Bill Hillmann grew up in Chicago and has been running with the bulls of Spain for the better part of two decades. He is the author of Mozos and The Old Neighborhood. He divides his time between Chicago, New Orleans, and Pamplona.

"Bill Hillmann is one of the few who can articulate the chaotic scramble of runners, the icy chill of being gored, and the healing power of nearly bleeding to death on a filthy street in Spain." - Esquire

Reviews

"Bill Hillmann is one of the few who can articulate the chaotic scramble of runners, the icy chill of being gored, and the healing power of nearly bleeding to death on a filthy street in Spain." - Esquire
"Bill Hillmann is courageous. I'm grateful there have been many aficionados in the United States like Hemingway and Hillmann." - Mario Vargas Llosa recipient of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature
"Hillmann is one of the last and most serious Hemingwayites." - Cuarto Poder (Spain)
"Hillmann describes each town and its local bull-running tradition, but he can't confine himself to observation, stepping onto the course and sprinting ahead of the charging bulls, recounting, as if he were writing while running, the exhilaration of the experience...In this way, more than one hundred stories accumulate, peppered with profanity (he just can't leave the F-word alone). While this may offend or distract some readers, others will fully enjoy the audacity of purpose and intensity of expression Hillmann brings to a subject he's passionate and knowledgeable about."- Booklist
