Instead of moving to Brooklyn to start her summer fellowship, Bryony feels drawn to her rural hometown in the Adirondacks and her unrequited feelings for her childhood love, Iris. When she returns home, no one will talk about the dying forest or what has become of Iris. Soon Bryony will have to make a difficult choice to restore the balance of the natural world by sacrificing all that she knows.
