Description

With over 50 million all-time podcast downloads to date, and an average of 350 thousand downloads per month, The Partially Examined Life has earned its place as one of the world's most popular philosophy podcasts. Starting from modest beginnings in April 2009, the podcast celebrates its fifteenth anniversary in 2024. With an archive of over 300 episodes and counting, it has become the go-to resource for those looking for a fun, accessible, yet intellectually-substantive introduction to nearly any philosopher-including many from groups and traditions underrepresented in the mainstream English-language discourse.

Their long-requested debut book brings an elite selection of the best episodes from the past 15 years, including celebrity guests such as Lucy Lawless and Dr. Drew, and philosophical heavyweights such as Peter "Animal Liberation" Singer and Patricia Churchland, opining on a wide range of topics including Art, the Free Market, the Nature of Reality, Responses to Evil, and much much more. In addition, this collection also highlights a focus on philosophers and topics underrepresented in mainstream discourse, including non-Western philosophical traditions, such as Daoism, Confucianism and Hinduism, and timely topics including racism, sexism and intersectional identity. As combined with original illustrations, never-before-seen photos and original essays, this is a classic for the ages, one that informs and enlightens while never losing sight of its commitment to entertain and enthrall.

"I'm a huge fan of The Partially Examined Life..." - Dr. Drew Pinsky (Loveline)

"I've never before heard my work discussed like that, and rarely as intelligently... I enjoyed every minute." - Arthur Danto

"I've been laughing at you for the last year... I thought that I would... go back to university and study philosophy... all because of you." - Lucy Lawless (Xena)
